The ‘Collective’ concept brings together an in-house and freelance roster of experienced marketing, film, video and music professionals that are assembled specifically for your project. Whether you’re a recording artist, producer, engineer or marketing agency looking for radio, TV or a video project, Backroom Collective has the team and solutions.
Backroom Recording Studio was launched in 1993 by musician and engineer Anthony D’Avanzo with his brother Joe, who is a musician and producer. Their aim was to provide musical artists, writers and producers with an environment that would inspire and help them to create great music.
For over 20 years, Backroom has attracted a range of Canada’s best and most talented recording artists and producers. Early on, the studio hosted acts like Alannah Myles, Sass Jordan, Kim Mitchell, and Gordie Johnson. More recently we’ve worked with upcoming and talked about acts like Saidah Baba Talibah and Chris Caddell and the Wreckage.
Through its relationship with musician/producer Derek Sharp and in-house musician/producer Michael Borkosky, Backroom has had a successful partnership with the Canadian Idol franchise. The studio and its team have toured, produced, hosted rehearsals, and nurtured several Canadian Idol winners and runners-up including Kalan Porter, Carly Rae Jepsen, illScarlett, Melissa O’Neil and Ryan Malcolm of Low Level Flight.
Twenty-years later, Backroom Recording Studios has launched the Backroom Collective, one of Canada’s only full-service audio and video studios for the music recording industry, as well as the corporate and marketing agency sectors. We offer a peaceful and professional facility that is truly unique to like minded creatives.
